The International Institute of Fisheries Economics and Trade (IIFET) is the only global professional organisation devoted to improving our understanding of all aspects of fisheries and aquaculture economics and seafood trade. Members include academic economists, fisheries managers, seafood industry members, international organisations and national government representatives.
IIFET 2006 Portsmouth will provide a forum for participants to discuss the current state of the world's fisheries and exchange ideas on the best means to rebuild those that have been damaged by natural disasters or human activities. In addition to providing the fisheries and aquaculture economics community with an opportunity to share its research through the presentation of papers and posters, debate will be further stimulated by panel discussions, special sessions and keynote addresses.
The main themes of the conference will be:
Fish for the future: recovering fisheries from crisis or collapse

Friday 10 February 2006: Deadline for the submission of abstracts
Friday 10 March 2006: Acceptance decisions by Scientific Committee sent to authors
Thursday 11 May 2006: Deadline for the submission of completed papers for IIFET and ACRSP Best Student Paper Awards
Friday 9 June 2006: Deadline for the submission of e-poster presentations
Monday 10 July 2006: Conference registration desk opens and welcome reception
Tuesday 11 July 2006: Conference opens
Thursday 13 July 2006: Conference banquet
Friday 14 July 2006: Deadline for the submission of final papers for inclusion in proceedings (in hard copy and as a digital file) at conference registration desk by 12:00. Conference closes.
